“It was nothing short of a miracle that we met Alison LaBonte and she was willing to work with us with her clear insights into science and technology and translating the information and resources to everyday people. I love that she is hands on and committed to walk people through the process.”

Arieann Harrison

“I've learned a lot from working with Alison and her approach to working with others.  She is genuinely curious and open to sharing information with others.  Alison shows up in support of the team and our goals."

Soon after Alison’s departure from California Public Utilities Commission, Arieann Harrison of Marie Harrison Community Foundation (MCHF) recruited her to support the community led efforts in Bayview Hunters Point. Alison’s approach is to immerse in the community concerns and ideas of the community by showing up to any public meetings and listen to the views expressed. Alison then takes her grasp of the priority actions the community expresses interest in and identifies funding opportunities that would fund these actions. She has established through her process a good balance of checking-in with the community leader she is supporting ensuring grant applications are in keeping with the leaders priorities, while not drawing too much time or energy from the leader from their day to day operations to develop grant applications.

In 2025, Alison collaborated with MHCF, other partner organizations, and volunteers to lead the grant application development successfully win a $500,000 award from the California Air Resources Board to conduct mobile air monitoring in San Francisco’s District 10 and engage and educate youth on air quality issues.
